Mr. Polverari Criminal Justice

The Journal News

A large majority of the criminal articles in The Journal News consisted of charges such as drugs, robbery, murder, abuse and assault. Other types of crimes committed included tax scandal, missing court dates, and speeding tickets. Most of the crime victims were aggravated because they had been victimized. They complained that the lack of either security or law enforcement had caused the problem. Others like DMX, who was caught while driving an uninspected vehicle, abided by the cops orders and mentioned he would see them in court.

Many defendants, mostly of murder cases, admitted to their crimes. A majority of these articles consisted of men who, after their sentences were bestowed, admitted they had infact killed someone. On the other hand, other defendants often denied the charges presented against them, such as sex scandals and rape.

In my opinion, the media does not portray a truthful representation of what happens at crime scenes. The charges and names are all accurate; however the way the event happened is biased depending on the newspaper and their reporters and editors. I've heard in many cases, that quotes, when taken by news reporters, are changed and often misreported when published. If I had to say whether the event was accurate, I would say it was because what really matters is who's at fault, not how it happened. The main focus is who is being charged, who is victimized, what the charges are, and what the outcome will be. Each article contains this information, so it is in fact accurate in the media.

DBQ essay

            The French and Indian war ended in 1763 only to begin a new bitter and violent conflict twelve years later, as a result of Salutary Neglect. Even now, the reasons for the abrupt transition of England and the American colonies from allies to enemies are unsure.

            There is reason to believe the colonists were just in waging war and breaking away from Britain. Everytime the British would propose an act, and try to somewhat control the colonies, the American colonists would go against them and rebel. In many situations, the colonists were forced to act in the way they did. In the excerpt from Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense”, document 6, he states t  and as a result, the American colonists rarely handled things in a proper manner, which may have led people to believe they were not just in waging war against Britain. For example, in document 3, the picture of the Boston Massacre portrays the British shooting the American Colonists. What many people don’t know is the British had no intentions to shoot the colonists. This Massacre resulted from the Americans taunting and cursing at the British in a drunken rampage.

Once again, I've found myself in the library on livejournal instead of researcing profit vs. social responsibility of television producers for business law. why? I have no idea. Yet another year of school has started. Suprisingly though, i'm really enjoying this year so far. Spirit week is soon, which is always a good thing. Although we're coming into fall and i miss the fall of freshman year, as I did last year, I'm finding that i'm not even thinking about it at all, which i'm really happy about. Last fall wasn't exactly spectacular. I missed alot of things from the year before, and in some ways, I wanted to go back in time. Things in my life have changed though, and it's like I don't even care anymore. I do care though, that's the weird thing. I've realized that when I find something I care about, and something happens, I pull away

i absolutely love the days that i sit at home and do absolutely nothing. the last few days have been absolutely gorgeous and i don't want summer or this weather to end. i've come to the conclusion that no matter what..some girls will always be immature bitches. no matter how old or "mature"[[so they think]] they get, they'll still act like 12 year olds when it comes to some stuff. it's kinda funny knowing that i'm 16 and i'm more mature then some 18 and 19 year olds. i need to get away from brewster and get away from the drama that i've been involved in for the last 2 years. i can't wait for college. a week's vacation isn't gunna do justice for me. i need to go far away, meet new people and start over. get away from all the highschool bullshit. some people just stay so attached to the past and choose to keep the drama in their lives and drag it on for wayyyy longer than intended. now there's something rachel and i don't understand. anyway..enough of this, i'm starving.

peace && love.<3

[ music | tom petty-time to move on ]

this summer's been pretty eventful so far. i really am enjoying every minute of it.  i haven't updated this thing in forever..i kinda forgot about it, which i tend to do alot. on that note, i envy christina's journal. she updates constantly and her entries aren't stupid and full of bullshit, they're interesting. :-) so christina, if you read this, props to your lovely LJ. ahaha. hmm...the tom petty concert was last night. AMAZING and UNFORGETTABLE..probably the 2 best words to describe it. the allman brothers were kick-ass too, but tom is absolute love. saw some interesting things and heard some interesting stories. rhode island is on saturday and i'm really looking forward to that trip. it's always amazing. cousinly love, pottery, beach, shopping, ice cream, and official rhode island songs are always a good time. haha. after that though, there's six flags then only 7 days until school starts again. as much as i wanna go back and see everyone again, i want it to be summer for another 2 months. this year should be fun though. work has officially taken over my life and i hate it. and that is where i will be in a few minutes. :) happy summer.

peace && love<3
